Former football star Lawrence Phillips was sentenced Friday to 10 years in prison, two years after he was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon. The sentencing was repeatedly delayed while Phillips fought to withdraw a guilty plea in a domestic abuse case that could have led to a stiffer sentence.

The Rams practiced Wednesday and now scatter for four days, planning to return Monday with a fresh start after the firing of coach Scott Linehan.

One of the first things coach Jim Haslett did after getting the call to replace Linehan, was name Marc Bulger the starting quarterback for the rest of the season.

Linehan benched Bulger and replaced him with Trent Green, who played in last Sunday’s loss to Buffalo. While at times, it appeared there was more energy with Green behind center, the reality is that his passer rating for the game (64.1) is lower than Bulger’s for the season (73.2).

Bulger was benched after playing his best football of the season in the second half against Seattle the week before, completing 12 of 18 passes for 145 yards.
